The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation H.E Abdirahman Yusuf Ali Aynte and his delegation from the Ministry, European Union envoy to Somalia Ambassador Michele Carvone D’urso, SomRep and BRiCS consortiums and United Nations agencies arrived in Baidoa on Thursday 19th November 2015. The official trip was a joint mission to Baidoa on the review of cooperation with ISWA and launch of two Resilience Programmes to be signed in Baidoa by H.E Abdirahman Yusuf Ali, Ambassador Michele Carvone and ISWA President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam in presence of the Prime Minister H.E Omar Abdirashid Ali.
It has been a unique experience of bringing together Donors, Government and implementing Partners, National and Regional level, political and operational as well as different sector perspectives into one room for the first time as the Federal Government of Somalia had the lead on that. It was a big step in to the right direction of developing the new Somalia.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation H.E Abdirahman Yusuf Ali had expressed his gratitude to the European Union and particularly the implementing partners as an open mind and responsiveness to the views and challenges articulated at various levels as well as the support they always given to Somalia especially this highly population region ISWA administration which needs support in terms of agriculture, fishing and livestock.
The Minister also mentioned that the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation would have the role of monitoring and evaluating the projects done by the implementing partners.
The European Union Ambassador Michele Carvone also appreciated the hospitality by the ISWA administration to the delegation and efforts done by the Federal Government of Somalia.
The Ambassador also promised that the Commission and the donors will increase the support to Somalia, also the ambassador compliments Minister Aynte and his team for the great work they had delivered so far and their commitment.
